Chronograph Suisse was a brand that made parts available to any Swiss company producing chronographs. In the time before the quartz revolution, there were probably more than 500 workshops or factories producing watches by buying movements, cases, and dials. Chronographe Suisse also used their own brand name, too. Most of the many different factories disappeared during the quartz revolution.
If you are thinking about buying a chronograph, you might consider a Chronograph Suisse. They provide good quality for the money, and you might find a very nice movement inside. Prices often vary due to the names on the dial or if gold used in the cases, but these pieces were made in steel or chromium-plated cases, making them much more affordable. Be sure to check the back on a gold-plated watches: The caseback should also be gold plated. If it is steel, you are most certainly looking at a gold plated version.
